Core Modules
There are two core modules in the Business Analysis Diploma, which all candidates are required to pass. Each is gained through sitting a one-hour, open-book, scenario-based examination.

Business Analysis Practice (3-day course including exam) View Course

This module explores a set of core business analysis techniques covering strategic analysis, business system investigation, stakeholder analysis, business perspectives, business activity modelling, gap analysis and business case development.

Requirements Engineering (3-day course including exam) View Course

This module addresses the requirements engineering process and actors, requirements elicitation techniques, documenting and modelling requirements, requirements analysis, validation and requirements management.

Specialist Modules: Knowledge-based

Candidates are required to pass one knowledge-based specialist module. These modules are gained through passing a one-hour, closed-book, multiple-choice examination.

Foundation in Business Analysis (3-day course including exam) View Course

This module provides an overview of the business analyst role, the competencies of a business analyst and the techniques used in strategic analysis, investigation and stakeholder analysis, modelling business systems and processes, requirements engineering, IT system modelling and making a business case.

Foundation in Business Change (3-day course including exam) View Course

This module provides an overview of the business change lifecycle and the techniques used during business and IT alignment, business change definition, business change design, business change implementation and business benefits realisation.

Foundation in IS Project Management (3-day course including exam) View Course

This module provides an overview of the approach and techniques used in IT-related project management, including project initiation, planning and estimating, teams and motivation, risk management and quality planning, and project monitoring and control.

Specialist Modules: Practitioner

Candidates are required to pass one practitioner-based specialist module. These modules are gained through passing a one-hour, open-book, scenario-based written examination.

Modelling Business Processes (2-day course including exam) View Course

This module covers the techniques for modelling processes at an organisational level and developing detailed ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ business process models. Process management, improvement and redesign, and process change implementation are also covered in this module.

Benefits Management and Business Acceptance (3-day course including exam) View Course

This module explores benefits management, including the definition of business benefits and planning for their delivery, business acceptance testing and the implementation of business solutions.

Systems Development Essentials with Agile (3-day course including exam) View Course

This module explores a range of development lifecycles, approaches and techniques, with particular emphasis on those used in Agile systems development.

Systems Modelling Techniques (3-day course including exam) View Course

This module covers the key UML techniques used to model IT systems including use case diagrams, class models, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams and state machines.

Data Management Essentials (4-day course including exam) View Course

This module covers the development of procedures for managing corporate data and what’s required for the administration of data and database administration. It also covers data and enterprise, data quality and current data management themes

Oral Examination

The oral examination lasts for 50 minutes and the candidate is required to demonstrate that they can put the competencies gained in the written examinations into a coherent context.
