The exam consists of 40 multiple-choice questions and will last 90 minutes. To pass the exam, you must achieve a minimum score of 65%. You will receive an exam voucher which allows you to schedule your ISTQB CTAL-TTA exam at a date and time that is convenient for you.

How will this course support my career?

Completing the CTAL-TTA certification helps you develop advanced technical testing skills, including automation, non-functional testing and code analysis. These capabilities support progression into more specialised testing roles such as technical test analyst, test consultant or technical test engineer.

What is non-functional testing?

Non-functional testing assesses how a system behaves under different conditions, rather than focusing only on functionality. It reviews quality characteristics such as performance, security, reliability and compatibility to ensure applications meet expected standards. Technical test analysts use these techniques to identify risks and verify that software performs reliably under different environments and workloads.

What experience do I need before taking the CTAL-TTA course?

To take the ISTQB Certified Tester Advanced Level Technical Test Analyst (CTAL-TTA) course, you must already hold the ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level certification. We also recommend that you have at least two years of practical software testing experience, ensuring you are familiar with core testing concepts before progressing to the more technical areas explored in this course.

How long is the CTAL-TTA certification valid?

ISTQB certifications do not expire and remain valid for life. Once you have passed the CTAL-TTA exam, you retain the certification permanently.
